In my mind, our international website had walked around over two years. Since long time, we are busy and keep working. But what’s the core difference between this website and two years before? Yeah, Pageviews, session has grown to a high level. Is that our real target? The fucking number? Bosh!
As we know, how to appraise a website? And what’s the company’s value. Now, look our international website, what’s the core value? Bring a deal to our clients. But actually, how many percent members who had made a deal in one year? China suppliers, TrustPass member and free member, how many percent? That’s a key number which show us the website’s value. Maybe we can’t get this number by date. A bad guess from me, China suppliers’ percent maybe under 30%. TP member, how about TP members’ renew rate? 25%? 30%? If she had really made a deal, why not renew? Free members, who care about them, who care about over 500,000 members is there or not?
Why people come into Alibaba.com? Why China suppliers paid 40,000-60,000RMB to us? Just investment? That’s a joke. After one year, what have they gotten?
Look our competitors, forget globalsources.com, they just told us how to die. Look ec21, made-in-china, Alexa has told us how many quickly they had grown. If no China site, I can’t envisage the image in Alexa.com.
OK, I had said too much. What does we can do?
We can do too much things, but I think that two things are most important.
1. Rebuild the information structure. Base the requirement of users to design the information architecture. Website should be community, and interactive marketplace should be understand by every one. China website is a best example, we can learn it.
2. Build a forum. Look ebay, review his history, we can find which a forum had taken so much helps for community. Repeat my words: Content is king, communication on some level is a best content which renews itself richfully.
I can’t use date to prove my point. And above two points, we can find the benefits which they bring to China website. I don’t know what’s our “stratagem decision”, but we can learn from China website. Nobody know which road the website should be go, so, I just said I want to say.
