Since elance.com was absorbed by ebay.com, I had seen much advertisement on ebay.com. The elance.com seems be great marketplace of business service. Her words: “the world largest services marketplace” on her providers services page. Is it true? I am interest in this website.
I find one point which is common ground of all kinds of providing business service. Most of working results are digital file which can be easily transferred on Internet.
I am curious on the elance.com. I want to pay and become a select member of this website. but i not sure whether it's worth.

by the way, don't worry about 50$ building a website. it's service. buyer will choice it. for example, i never choice the cheapest goods on ebay. 100$ notebook, i can't believe it.
wrong. Most ppl on elance are looking for a cheap deal. They are not looking for service. They just wanted the finish product (I'm generally speaking). Frankly the work done on elance usually isn't crap and $100usd for you may not sound like much, but for some ppl in other countries, it's not a bad pay for a day's work.
Templatemonster is not a good comparison as they are templates, many sites do opt for templates and you can see 10 to 20 sites with the same layout/style. There is a market for every type of buyer/seller. If you're looking to make a cheap buck, then go ahead with elance (but good luck as there are tones of other people on there bidding so low that you wouldn't be making much by American standards).
I just noticed you're from China. So I guess costs will be Chinese standards...but what I can say is that by American standards, the bids on Elance are definitely way too low to make any good money. You'd be working your ass off just to make ends meet.
And lastly, if you want service, why would you have someone half away across the world work on a project for you? Most ppl will hit the Internet to get a cheap deal.
Personally (and I believe most others), I only order things from the Internet for 2 reasons. They are cheaper or they are more convenient. Elance is definitely not more convenient. You connect the dots.

copy a review from alexa.com. below:
Too expensive, ZERO customer support.,
Elance started off well, but soon got greedy and forgot about their customers. Now the site is very expensive, and the customer support is nowhere to be found. I recommend Avoxa.com. They are still relatively new, but they remind me a lot of what Elance used to be. The have very low prices, excellent customer support, and, as soon as their customer base gets larger, they will be a much better alternative to Elance.
I had checked it. Avoxa.com is absolutely empty. but the words "ZERO customer support".
I hope that all of support can be finished by machine by program items, not by human resources.
