Everything has gone with the wind
Last semester I read the famous work “gone with the wind” wrote by lady Margret Mitchell who lived in the southern states of
The novel centers around the civil war of the
I love the main actress Scaly Ohala and the play boy captain Barteler. He is somewhat cynical but a noble gentleman indeed from my point of view.
Besides he is much wiser than those owners of large plantations of the southern states who were so ignorant of their ignorance that claimed the south would defeat the “yankees”in less than a month!
The south was compelled to retreat again and again and at last lost the most important city
Finally, as known to all the north won and the slavery which had been existed for several hundreds years was finally abolished.
The civil was over but sadness continuing .numerous young men died on battlefield, among them there are close friends of Scaly since childhood.
Fortunately Rade survived, so did Ashly——the man whom our dear Scaly thought she really loved. But he had his own family, his gentle pure wife, his tender gullible son. So at last she married Rade though she didn’t love him so much as he did.
Later they got a lovely angel called “Bonnie”,she was the apple in her father’s eyes positively. Unfortunately she died in an accident :when she was riding a horse tried to cross the hurdle ,she fell off the horse to the ground and snapped her neck.
Rade lost heart toward life ’cause he could hardly endure this heavy strike. The couple got divorced in the end.
I remember a pet phrase of the actress very well, when she was faced up to misfortune ,
Scaly used to comfort herself: ok ,I ’ll think about it tomorrow!
Yes ,absolutely right. “When the old world is damaged ,the new world emerge.” After all, tomorrow is another day!
