I have been baffled by why so many people take a negative attitude towards romance on the Net. Whenever people begin a discussion of the topic, they never take it seriously, and sometimes even despise it, thinking it somehow too far from reality. I still remember when, one sleepless night in my dorm, one of my roommates suggested that everyone say something about college life. Then I told them a love story of a good friend of mine. The romance began with chatting on the Net. I was moved so deeply after learning every detail of the story that I took it for granted that it would move everyone else in the dorm too. To my surprise, my roommates reacted with silence. And one of them could hardly suppress a giggle and said:"Oh, poor girl! Please don’t tell me that you even believe in the existence of love on the Net. You are so naive!"Her words really upset me a lot.
People often respect love in real life, while showing their disdain for cyber-romance. But in my opinion, it is not as bad as many people think. In today’s society, people often feel lonely and empty after a hard day of work. They need someone to talk with to relax themselves, and someone who can share their feelings. But instead, they find themselves betrayed by some so-called true friends in real life. So they turn to the Net for help. When you are on the Net, you know for sure someone is there who listens to you, cares about you, who always wants to share both your happiness and sadness with you. Cyber-love can make your life colourful and more tolerable. So why not just try to enjoy it?
