I really should have written this earlier. Well, I have been very very busy this week.
For anybody who reads this passage and does not know what the phrase 'deed poll' means, I am afraid that it is probably NOT a good idea to keep reading, as I am NOT going to explain anything.
However, everybody knows what 'identity' means. It is who you are. You can find out your identity on your ID Card, your passport, you Birth Certificate. But identity is not equal to your existence. Your existence is defined by your own will, whereas your identity is defined by official records and documents.
I suppose it is pretty clear now. The problem is, MOST people don't understand the meaning of self-awareness. They can feel their existence and keep their identity, yet they still don't know who they are.
I was almost drowned by text messages when a purely private matter was disclosed to a certain group of people who seem to be 'close to me'. Shall I reinforce my point-it is private, not secret. A personal issue may not be private under certain circumstances, and a secret does not have to be personal.
There are just too many people who have no understanding about the difference between privacy and secrecy. Therefore they ask too many questions. It is seriously NOT very healthy for them.
It was absolutely ridiculous. Unless my nerves had been broken down by some interesting stuff, I would never ever ever ask such brainless questions. It is one of the last things on Earth that I would ever do.
Asking a 'friend' (I still cannot see the further implications behind this word) WHY.
Why did you do it and why didn't you tell ME?
If the person I am insinuating here is also reading this passage, please don't be offended. There is no hostility here; it is simply honesty. Sometimes being narrow-minded is good for you-I am sure that you know this better than anybody else on the planet.
At least I didn't take offence at all when I received these messages. I found them highly entertaining.
As if you knew a lot. As if you were responsible for something. As if it was my duty to tell you.
Thank you very much for your kind offer. I hate refusing the opportunity to SHARE WITH PEOPLE, but I have LOGICS.
It's come back to my 'nobody else' theory again. NOBODY ELSE is obliged to be informed. They should all live a healthy life. NOBODY ELSE has the right to ask ANYTHING before I feel like telling them actively, or before they ask me for the right of asking a second question.
For example, I always add something like 'May I possibly ask you...' or 'If you don't mind me asking...' or 'You don't have to tell me anything...', before I have the right to go any further.
It is not only about politeness. It is RESPECT.
People who are self-unaware can't see the limit of 'friendship'. No no, I am not being anti-social here. It does not only apply to me. It is mutual.
Sadly, only very few people can utilise this respect.
Well...of course I don't mind to be questioned again. But I was really disappointed because you did not tell me that you would make me keep laughing till this moment. Otherwise I could have got prepared.
I SHOULD THINK that YOU will be equally entertained after reading this passage as well. We are such close friends, aren't we?
