One Teacher In A Million
I dare to say Miss Zou, my high school headteacher is one of the greatest teachers I have ever met.
My dear teacher is tiny and dapper. She always wear white shirt, dark skirt and high-heeled shoes, just as an ordinary office lady. But you can recognize her at first glance, because she is conspicuous for her short brown hair on the campus ruled by strict discipline.
Miss Zou is unique. After graduated from Xinan Normal University, she turned down an offer from a local middle school, then went to Guangzhou and recommended herself directly to our headmaster. She devotes all her effort to being an excellent teacher. Whenever you see her, she’s like a bee flying up and down in the garden.
I still remember the day when Miss Zou began her class in first year history. She seldom referred to her notes. Words flew from her mouth as from pen of a master. Furthermore, she helped us memorize the date 9.18 by a homonym of “救一把”, which means give me a hand in English. No wonder she feels like trying all kinds of innovative methods and engaging in experimental teaching programs.
Although Miss Zou is ambitious of her career, she’s like a neighborhood sister when staying with us. We have participated volunteer work, have been out for trips and dinners together. On the days we took part in the College Entrance Examinations, she encouraged us to build up self-confidence and overcome stress. I am particularly appreciated what she said to me the moment I stepped into the classroom: “Believe yourself! You can do better than you image.” Maybe that’s what she pursues and hopes her students can exceed their ability.
Finally, I want to quote some words from a card. Miss Zou, to you I am one of many. To me you are one of a few. But as a teacher you are one in a million.
