This paper presents a numerical study of the gas flow in cyclone with different vortex finder, one is, and the other is whose typical feature is conical shape of the bottom vortex finder and slot through the conical bottom. With the help of Fluent software (RSM model is employed)，comparisons between gas flow in slotted vortex finder cyclone and conventional vortex finder cyclone was made, and the results indicated that the slotted vortex finder is helpful for improving gas flow in cyclone. Slotted vortex finder could reduce the shortcut flow rate from the bottom of the vortex finder; better off the flow in vortex finder and separation space, and about 85% of total flow is separated through the slot of the slotted vortex finder by inertia force when the area ratio of slot to the end of vortex finder is 2.7, and the pressure of slotted vortex finder cyclone is lower than that in conventional vortex finder cyclone, compare with the pressure drop in conventional vortex finder cyclone, the pressure drop in slotted vortex finder cyclone turns down nearly 20%.
