The Amor asteroids are a class of asteroids with Mars-crossing orbits. Eros is one of the larger Amors, and NASA's Near-Earth Asteroid Rendezvous (NEAR) mission, launched Feb. 17, 1996, is scheduled to visit it in Jan. or Feb. 1999. There are 231 known Amors (Minor Planet Center).
