| | A group of layer silicates with an approximately 14 Å repeat distance. The most common mineral is chlorite itself. The chlorites bend plastically. Chemical analysis is required to distinguish members of this group from each other (such as powder diffraction). Members of the chlorite group include apophyllite, chlorite = Mg5Al(AlSi3O10)(OH)8, chrysocolla, and prehnite. |
