| Geocentric means "Earth-centered," so geocentric coordinates include any coordinate systems (e.g., Cartesian, spherical, or elliptical) which have the Earth's center as their origin. The most useful of the geocentric coordinate systems is equatorial coordinates.
Cf. heliocentric coordinates, which use the center of the Sun as their origin and topocentric coordinates (most notably altitude-azimuth coordinates), which use the observer's location as the center. |
