The flow of an electric current, usually in a wire or other solid conductor, but possibly in a plasma or other conducting medium. The energy in electricity can be converted into other forms and thus used to do mechanical work. The amount of charge passing a given point per unit time from electric flow is called the current, while the energy per unit charge of the flow is called the voltage (or electric potential).
A configuration of components through which electricity is made to flow is called an electric circuit.
