《翠玉录》，古埃及的至上经典，赫尔墨斯神献给我们的财富。
牛顿曾经转译过这个只有十三句话的著作。
译文如下：
1.Tis true without lying,certain and most ture.
2.That wch is below is like that wch is above and that wch is above is like yt wch is below to do ye miracles of one only thing.
3.And as all thing have been and arose from one by ye meditation of one:so all things have their birth from this one thing by adaptation.
4.The Sun is its father,the moon its mother.
5.The wind bath carried it in its belly,the earth its nurse.
6.The father of all perfection in ye whole world is here,its force or power is entire if it be converted into earth.
7.Seperate thou ye earth from ye fire,ye subtile from the gross sweetly wth great indoustry.
8.It ascends from ye earth to ye heaven and again it descends to ye earth and receives ye force of things superior and inferior.
9.By this means you shall have ye whole world and thereby all obscurity shall fly from you.
10.Its force is above all force,for it vanquishes every subtile thing and penetrates every solid thing.
11.So was ye world created.
12.From this are and do come admirable adaptations whereof ye means(Or process)is here in this.
13.Hence I am called Hermes Trismegist,having the three parts of ye philosphy of ye whole world and that wch I have said of ye operation of ye Sun is accomplished and ended.
同样看到，四元素在人体里表现为四中体液：粘液、血液、胆汁、黑胆汁。
每种体液被赋予了不同的个性。
粘液：迟钝麻木、冷静，不易激动。
血液：乐观愉快、温和而善良，充满希望。
胆汁：脾气很坏，容易发怒。
黑胆汁：阴郁、沮丧、悲伤。
顺便说依据，中世纪的医生认为，这四种体液在健康的人体中以不同的比例和谐共处，当它们失调的时候，人就生病了。而治愈的原则就是让人体内斯中体液重新平衡。
