MY FATHER

      FAMILY ALBUM 2006-4-13 18:12
My father is a physics professor and his experience is just like a reflection of Chinese education.

Fifty years ago, my father was born in a family with his parents, two brothers and a little sister. As many Chinese people know, that time was totally different from nowadays, when the whole China was so backward that the knowledge had been distained by both government and most of people. It's rare for a family to send all their children to school, especially in China's village at that time, while that's what my father's parents did. Maybe it's because my grandpa was a descendant of a wealthy family, which means they not only appreciate knowledge but also have ability to afford their children to studying at school.

From primary school, my father was always a through-A student and at the influence of his big brother, who is book-lover, he had already read lots of Chinese classical works when he was very young. After graduation from primary and secondary school, my father and the whole China went through a disaster--Cultural Revolution, which, someone says, made China stepped back at least fifty years. And what impacted my father most is the closing of college when he just graduated from high school and was ready to go to college.

Then he worked as a accountant in the working union of his hometown. If nothing had changed and China had stayed at that place forever, it's safely to say that my father would spend his whole life in his hometown. But in reality there was a huge change. Nearly two years later, a news came into everybody's ear, include my father's, that college began to enroll student again. With his good basis of high school's subjects, my father successfully entered into college in the fall of that year.

His major if physics, in which lots of subjects had never been heard before. And he made all his efforts to absorb knowledge and made up missed lessons as much as possible. One term's later, he became the top3 student again with the help of diligent.

After graduation, he became a teacher in his college and then he met my mother. In 1979 they married and their first daughter was born, that's me. From my birth, my father gave all his heart to me and became my first teacher in writing, math, painting, play piano and all fields. When I was five years old, I have a little sister, my parents' second daughter. In my memory, my father continues to make unremitting efforts to build a warm family for us and we all love him.

Next moth, he'll have his 52th birthday, and I give all my best wishes to my beloved father.
