HIP-HOP 组合之Westlife

Westlife的传奇是从爱尔兰北部的Sligo开始，当时Shane、Mark和几个志同道合的朋友组成了一个专辑演唱Backstreet Boys歌曲的团体IOU，在一场音乐表演中Mark因缘际会地结识了Kian，并邀请他加入IOU，使得IOU成为6人编制的组合。透过当地经纪公司的安排IOU开始在家乡的流行重镇The Point演唱，而且还自资录制了一首曲名为Together Girl Forver的单曲寄给Boyzone超级经纪人Louise Walsh。1998年Louise安排IOU在Backstreet Boys都柏林的演唱会上担任暖场团体，而Boyzone的Ronan也到场欣赏他们的演出。然而由于Boyzone的经纪事务太过繁杂，Louise并没有签下IOU的打算，但是他们杰出的表现让Louise十分不舍，于是便将IOU介绍给Ronan认识，并希望他能为团员们上些艺人养成课程。在和IOU团员们进行一番恳谈后，Ronan毅然决定与Louise共同担任他们的经纪人。接着Louise在柏林举行的试演会上挖掘了表演学校毕业的Brian以及原是Leeds United球队的Nicky，与IOU核心人物Shane、Mark和Kian组成了Westside。
　　1999年11月Westlife发表了首张同名专辑，不但在英国、爱尔兰两地分别得到了4白金与12白金，世界各地更拥有超越500万张的惊人销售量。在这张专辑中还史无前例地诞生了5首冠军曲，包括Swear It Again、If I Let You Go、Flying Without Wings、Season In The Sun与Fool Again。而Westlife在美国也以Swear It Again在告示牌的销售量上名列第2，成为继Spice Girls之后唯一能征服美国的欧陆流行组合。2000年9月份Westlife接受流行天后Mariah Carey的邀约，与她合唱Phil Collins在84年的冠军经典Against All Odds，再度为他们夺下第6首冠军曲。
　　10月份推出的单曲My Love不但替Westlife再添一首冠军单曲，更让他们打平了Beatles连续冠军单曲的纪录，成为继Spice Girls之后拿下最多连续冠军的团体。11月份Westlife推出了第二张专辑Coast To Coast，他们惊人的买气打败了英国超级女子团体Spice Girls的第三张全新大碟Forever，一举登上英国冠军，也证明了他们在英国的不败偶像地位，成为欧洲地区继Take That与Boyzone之后最受欢迎的偶像团体。
